Mary Jo Blumhoefer, age 76, of Montgomery passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Abbott Northwestern Hospital on Monday, June 30, 2014. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 6, 2014 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, July 7, 2014 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery at 10:30 a.m. with visitation one hour prior at the church. Burial will be at a later date.

Mary was born February 21, 1938 in St. Paul, MN to John and Catherine (Youngquist) Boyle. She was united in marriage to Eddie Jo Blumhoefer on August 11, 1962 in St. Paul. She worked as a teacher and librarian in Montgomery, New Prague, Belle Plaine, and ended her career in Le Center. As reading was her passion, she was instrumental in securing grants that led to the successful completion of the beautiful Montgomery Community Library. She was also a founding member of the Montgomery Area Friends of the Library. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, family gatherings, travel, music and her grandchildren.

Mary is survived by her spouse of 51 years, Eddie Jo; children and grandchildern, Mary Rose Blumhoefer (Mike Anderson) Nick and Nia Arguedas of Montgomery, Patti Molitor (Mike), Zach, Jake, Peter and Brian of New Prague, Katie Bolton (Tim) Jay, Andy, Nikki and Aaron of Montgomery and Jodi Blumhoefer, Sam, Mary, Rose and Trevor Lancaster of Montecello; sister, Jane Wiljamaa (Alan), brother-in-laws Norbert (Bev) Blumhoefer and Gene Blumhoefer, both of Fairfax and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Joseph and sister Catherine and husband Jerome Malluege, brother-in-law Donald Blumhoefer and sister-in-law Lois Blumhoefer.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to charity of your choice.
