Mayme Lillian Richter

Mayme Lillian Richter, 96, of Mound, formerly of Montgomery, passed away at Our Lady of Peace in St. Paul on Tuesday, January 23, 2018. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, January 28, at St. John Lutheran Church in Montgomery, with visitation 1-1/2 hours prior beginning at 12:30 pm. Interment will be held in St. John Lutheran Cemetery in spring.

Mayme was born on March 28, 1921 to James and Antonie (Barta) Noiske at home in Rural Montgomery in Erin Township. She attended Country School. She was united in marriage February 12, 1941 to John C. Richter at St. John Lutheran Church in Montgomery and was a homemaker and farmed all her life. Mayme loved cooking, baking, flower gardening, and her cats. Collector of recipe's all of her life including WW11 when sugar was rationed you used maple syrup and honey as substitutes for sugar. Her family and friends favorites were her kolacky, potato dumplings, and caramel rolls. As a teenager on her own family farm she worked the fields with a 1 horse plow and when she married her and John also farmed with horses. She worked side-by-side in the fields with her husband all her married life. When her husband passed away she retired from farming.

Mayme is survived by her daughters, Darlene Richter of Edina, and Sharon Tester of Mound; granddaughter, Jessica Tester of Mound; nieces, Cindy Westerhouse, and Carolyn Richter; nephews, Rick Noiske, and Jim Noiske.

Mayme is preceded in death by her husband, John Richter; her parents; brother, Jim Noiske.
