Melven J. Wolter, age 81, of Montgomery formerly of Hopkins passed away Thursday, June 11, 2015 at Central Health Care in Le Center. Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at the Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. with funeral services at 11 a.m. also at the funeral home. Burial will be at Grandview Cemetery in Hopkins.
Melven was born on April 19, 1934 to Elmer and Edna (Bongard) Wolter in Hancock Township. He was united in marriage to Phyllis (Kliniski) Wolter on August 25, 1962 in Denham Minnesota. Melven worked as a Computer Programmer Analyst for Unisys. He served in the Army from 1957 to 1963. Melven enjoyed fishing, music which he also copy wrote 4 songs, reading and spending time with family.
Melven is survived by children, Dianne (James) Wolbeck of Montgomery and Gary Wolter of Minnetonka; grandchildren, Jered, Sarina, Logan, Emmett and Owen Wolbeck and Alex Gustafson; sister, Elizabeth (Bill) Whiteaker of Montrose, Colorado and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Phyllis.
Military Honors will be provided by the Montgomery American Legion Honor Guard.
