Michael 'Carp' Sery

Michael “Carp” Sery, age 67, of Montgomery, passed away on Tuesday, June 11 at his home in Montgomery. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 21 from 9am to Noon at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery with funeral mass following. Private interment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to establish a scholarship fund in Michaels name.

Michael was born on October 2, 1951 in Faribault to John and Anastasia “Babe” (Furlong) Sery. He attended Holy Redeemer Catholic School and graduated from Montgomery High School. Michael attended St. Cloud State University. Michael was united in marriage with Carol Shipley on October 4, 1975 at the Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery. Michael taught at Montgomery Lonsdale Elementary School for 35 years.

Michael coached baseball for many years, enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching baseball, mowing lawn and spending time with his boys and grandchildren.

Michael is survived by his wife, Carol Sery of Montgomery; children, Ryan (Jess) Sery of Montgomery, Craig (Abbie) Sery of Bloomington, and Adam Sery of Brooklyn Park; grandchildren, Anton, Grace, Lukas, and Kipton; siblings, Cathy Sery of Hastings, Mary Sery of West St. Paul, Joe (Sandy) Sery of Montgomery and John (Linda) Sery of Georgia.

Michael is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Jimmy Sery.
