Micheal (Mike) Charles OMalley, age 67, of Elysian, MN (formerly of Le Center) died Wednesday, April 24 2019, peacefully at his home. Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Le Center Funeral Home in Le Center, with a prayer service at 2:30 p.m. Memorial service, with Military Honors, will be held on Sunday, April 28, 2019 at noon at the Le Center American Legion Post 108, Le Center, MN. Interment will be held at Greenwood Union Cemetery in Le Center, with fellowship to follow at the Le Center American Legion Post 108. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Rochester Ronald McDonald House or Andreas Cancer Center in Mankato.
Mike was born on April 7, 1952 in Waseca to Russell Francis and Betty Lou (Bartelt) OMalley. Mike graduated from McKinley High School in Le Center in 1970. He served in the United States Army from 1972 to 1974. He attended Mankato Vo-Tech and Central Arizona College. Mike married the love of his life, Mary Jo Sinclair, on January 27, 1973 at the Methodist Church in Le Center. Mike worked for Mathiowetz Construction based out of Sleepy Eye, MN.
Mike enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was proud to be an original member of the Mille Lacs Lake Lunkers and the 7 Mile Yacht Club. He enjoyed watching birds and spending time with his family, grandchildren and close friends.
Mike is survived by his wife, Mary Jo OMalley of Elysian; children, Mike (Kelly) OMalley of Le Center, Kelly Jo (Eric) Closser of Le Center, Sara OMalley (Adam Nelson) of Le Center, Shawn OMalley (Eric Erickson) of Le Center. Grandchildren, Daniel, Megan, Dawson, Molly, Brenna, Nolan, Ruthie and Maggie; siblings Colleen (Paul) Fay of St. Peter, Patricia Boettcher (the late Denis Boettcher) of Le Center, Sharon Adams of Eagan, and Karen Callahan of Eden Prairie.
Mike is preceded in death by his parents, Father-in-law Daniel Sinclair, Brother-in-law Denis Boettcher, and many great friends.
