Milton William Chlan, 86 of Montgomery, died Monday, March 10, 2014 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 14, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery and one hour prior at the Church on Saturday. Funeral service will be on Saturday, March 15 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Montgomery.
Milton was born on January 7, 1928 in Lanesburg Township to Frank and Mayme (Schoenbauer) Chlan. He went to parochial and public school in Lonsdale. He was united in marriage to Rose Mary Shambour on April 26, 1949 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in New Prague. He worked for 3M in Minneapolis, Polar Panel in Montgomery, Furman Plumbing in New Prague and Lonsdale area, with his dad's auto garage, worked as a freight hauler for Murphy Trucking, a milk hauler and had worked as a custodian at the Montgomery Lonsdale High School for 17 years, retiring in 1993.
He was a member of the KC 3rd Degree. He enjoyed grandchildren, hunting and fishing, gardening, card playing and farming 1951-1986.
He is survived by children; Barbara (and John) Richter of Milaca, Joyce (and Fred) Forcelle of Montgomery, Kathleen (and Doug) Ronsberg of Oakdale and Mark (and Lori Lee) Chlan of St. Joseph, nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, sisters, Jenny Mesenbrink of Belle Plaine, Lillian Thomas of Lakeville and Delphine Odette of Farmington; sister-in-laws, Harriet Chlan of Montgomery, Shirley Trcka of Lonsdale and Marcy Tupy of New Prague.
Milton is preceded in death by his wife, Rose Mary Chlan; his parents; 2nd mother Rose Wohnoutka Chlan; and brother Raymond.
