Opal Hartwig, age 93 of Le Center, died Sunday, April 24, 2016 at Ecumen in Le Center. Visitation will be held at St. John Lutheran Church in Montgomery on Friday, April 29, 2016 from 9:00 � 11:00 a.m. Funeral service will also be on Friday, April 29 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Mark Wilms officiating. Burial will be held in St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Montgomery.
Opal was born on June 10, 1922 in Derrynane Township in Le Sueur County to August and Martha (Schultz) Meyer. She was united in marriage to George Hartwig on October, 24, 1946 at St. John Lutheran Church in Montgomery. She enjoyed gardening, reading, sewing and needlework.
Opal is survived by children, Les (Bonnie) Hartwig of Le Center, and Gary (Jacque) Hartwig of Le Center; grandchildren, Ryan (Jennifer) Hartwig, Chris (Juli) Hartwig, Michelle (David) Nelson-Raaen, and Adam Nelson; great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Carly, Cami, Fisher, Nora and Emmy Hartwig, Levi and Jamie Nelson, and Cy Raaen; sisters-in-law, Louise Meyer of Montgomery, and Elsie Rotter of New Prague.
Opal is preceded in death by husband, George Hartwig; her parents; siblings, Donald in infancy, Milton Meyer, Elaine Stauff, Mildred Bohnsack, Valdeen Tuma, and Fred Meyer.
