Rhoda Ann Duffney

RHODA ANN DUFFNEY, age 93 of Montgomery, died in the early morning of Thursday, March 13, 2025, at the Faribault Medical Center.

Rhoda was born in Montgomery on May 11, 1931, to parents George and Mary (Wondra) Lehman. She married Leonard Duffney on August 2, 1947, and lived on their farm near Twin Lakes until her death. She lived an incredibly long and full life. She was a lifetime learner, loved books and was always keeping up with current events. She had a lifelong love in her husband Leonard, married almost 69 years before his passing. Their love was an extraordinary example of patience, kindness, and forgiveness. It was a special thing to witness. Rhoda worked alongside Leonard on their farm, sold Avon for 52 years, and at one time raised 1500 chickens. She was a member of the Montgomery VFW and American Legion Auxiliaries and St. John Lutheran Church. She enjoyed flower gardening, traveling, and especially time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom received a farm life education.

Rhoda is survived by her children, Scott (Deb) Duffney of Belle Plaine, Mary Lynn Schatz of Montgomery; son-in-law, Gary (Sue Lawson) Korbel of Kilkenny; eight grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by both of her parents; her husband; a daughter, Kimberly Korbel; a sister, LoElla Young; a brother, George F. Lehman; a sister in infancy; and a great-granddaughter in infancy, Tehnlee Teberg. Rhoda touched countless lives and will be missed by many.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at St. John Lutheran in Montgomery. Visitation will be held for one hour before the service at the church. Luncheon will follow at the Montgomery American Legion. Rhoda and Leonard will be interred together at a private graveside service at St. John Lutheran Cemetery.
