Richard John Kukacka, age 81, of New Prague, died on Friday, November 27, 2015 in Big Lake peacefully in his sleep. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 4, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Montgomery.
Richard was born on May 1, 1934 in Montgomery on the family farm to Edward and Rose (Krenik) Kukacka. He graduated from Montgomery High School. He was drafted into the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne and served for one tour. Richard was united in marriage to Mary Delores Srnec on September 7, 1963 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery and worked as a heavy equipment operator for 43 years.
He was a member of the local 49ers Union and enjoyed raising cattle, polka dancing, old time music, his flower gardens, and watching birds outside his picture window.
Richard is survived by his loving children, Charles (Linda) Kukacka of New Richmond, WI., Lori Kukacka of Big Lake and Jim (Vicky) Kukacka of Le Sueur; grandchildren, Michael, Amy, Emily and Matthew Kukacka, many nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Richard is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Delores; parents; daughter, Christine Marie in infancy; and brother, Donald Kukacka.
Military Honors provided by the Montgomery area Honor Guard.
