Rita L. Whipps

Rita L. Whipps of Waterville, passed away Monday, November 28, 2016 at her home. Private services and interment at Woodlawn Cemetery in Le Center will take place at a later date.

Rita Lenore Whipps was born September 8, 1940 to Albert Whipps and Lenore Welckle Whipps in St. Peter. She was baptized at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Le Center. Rita lived at home until 1977 after which time she moved to Hope Residence in Waterville. She moved to Elm Homes adult foster care residence in Waterville in 2003. Rita worked at the Le Sueur County DAC in Waterville from 1969 to 2011. She enjoyed shopping, going to parades, out to eat and listening to old time music.

Rita is survived by nieces, Lori Weldon (Greg) of Heidelberg, Amy Chappuis (Lorne) of Faribault, Bonnie Anderson (Doug) of Omaha, NE, Linda Hurtgen of New Freedom, PA, Susan Whipps Swenson (John) of North Branch, Julie Whipps Olson (Jeff) of North Branch, Lisa Whipps Benolken (Ray) of Harris; nephews, Mike Whipps of Le Center, and Kevin Gruetzmacher of Le Center.

Rita was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Marjorie Gruetzmacher; brothers, Lyle Whipps, and Roger Whipps.
