Robert M. Foley Sr.

Robert M. Foley Sr., age 86, of Montgomery, passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2020 at St. Francis Medical Center in Shakopee. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 8 from 4:00 to 7:00pm with KC Rosary to conclude the visitation at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery and will continue Tuesday, June 9 from 10:00 to 11:00am with Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am with Fr. Tom Niehaus officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Montgomery.

Bob was born on June 21, 1933 in Faribault to Mahlon and Leone (McDonough) Foley. Bob attended Rice County Country School and was a 1951 graduate from Montgomery High School. Bob was united in marriage to Jackie Selly on October 10, 1953 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Le Center. Bob was a farmer on the family farm which was established in 1880, carpenter for Ken's Cabinetry, and also worked at Met-Con Companies in Faribault for 20 years.

Bob was a Trustee at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Communion distributor, Board member of the Montgomery COOP Creamery, a member of the Montgomery KC's, Faribault Eagles, Elk's, 4H, Lucky 13 Sportsman Club, Montgomery Arts and Heritage and then chosen as the 2009 Irish family of the year. He coached baseball for Babe Ruth & 4H, served on the Erin Township Board and ASCS (FSA) in Rice County Farm Service Agency. Bob enjoyed card playing, fishing and bowling.

Bob is survived by his wife, Jackie Foley of Montgomery; children, Faye (Daniel) Griffin of Rochester, Patti (Randy) Soukup of Montgomery, Robert F. (Rebecca) Foley of Montgomery, and Chris (Paula) Foley of St. Cloud; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents; sister and brother-in-law, Loretta (Ken) Mracek.
