Roger Girard Neubauer

Roger Girard Neubauer, age 73 of Montgomery, died Friday, June 2, 2017 peacefully in his sleep at his home in Montgomery. Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 6 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral at church. Father George Grafsky will be officiating.

Roger was born on August 27, 1943 to James and Cleopha (VonBank) Neubauer in Shakopee. His birth mother tragically passed away two months after he was born. His father remarried Anne Janezich who raised him as her own. Roger received his bachelor's degree from St. Olaf College in Northfield. He was united in marriage to Roberta Melina in 1964. She passed away in May 1977. He then married Catherine Johnsen Benkert on October 8, 1977. He later married Sheryl Athey on October 1, 2005. He worked as a banker for many years at Citizen State Bank in Montgomery. He retired from Harland Financial in 2008. After retirement he became a bartender at the American Legion in Montgomery.

Roger formed the Sons of the American Legion Post 79 in Montgomery. He was very involved in the community with various organizations. Roger enjoyed ice fishing, hunting, gardening, being a leader, he found joy in helping others wherever he could, loved visiting with everyone and anyone.

Roger is survived by children, Jim Neubauer of Rochester, Dan (Angie) Neubauer of Le Center, Mike (Jennifer) Neubauer of Le Center, Ryan Neubauer of Montgomery, and Damon (Sara) Athey of Independence, KS; siblings, Terri (Gary) Schultz of Naples, FL, Kathy (Mike) Murphy of Cedar, and Joe Neubauer "Jake" of McGregor; grandchildren, Christopher, Nicholas, Alexis, Emma, Jacob, Cooper and Maverick; many other relatives and friends.

Roger is preceded in death by parents, mother, Anne Janezich; grandson, Joshuah Neubauer, and first and third wives.
