Ronan Rice Hunt

d. July 19, 2018

Ronan Rice Hunt (1928-2018), age 90, of Las Vegas, Nevada died peacefully surround by family on July 19, 2018. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 5, 2018, from 8 am to 10 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Le Center. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 am. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Le Center.

Ronan was born on April 27, 1928 in Mankato, Minnesota to Aaron Leo Hunt and Ethel Jane (Rice) Hunt. Ronan was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Maureen (Hunt) Allen of La Crosse, Wisconsin and his brother, Kevin Leo Hunt of Billings, Montana.

Ronan was a 1944 graduate of McKinley High School in Le Center. Ronan proudly served in both the United States Navy August 8, 1945 to August 18, 1946 and United States Air Force from May 1, 1951 to March 11, 1952.
On September 6, 2002, Ronan married the love of his life, Betsy (Olson) Hunt in Las Vegas Nevada. The couple were married on the fairway of the ninth hole at Palm Valley Golf Course in Las Vegas where they first met. In addition to golfing, the Hunts enjoyed entertaining family and friends from out-of-state.

Ronan was a proud uncle to his two nephews, Timothy Patrick Allen (Mukwonago, Wisconsin) and Clancey Jack Allen (La Crosse, Wisconsin); his niece, Shannon Ann Allen (Mukwonago, Wisconsin).

After fulfilling his military service, Ronan's work consisted of an over-the-road truck owner and operator and farmer. The majority of Ronan's work-life included a 49-year trucking partnership with Donald Majusiak. Rumor has it those two never had a cross word!

Ronan's greatest gift was that of his time and friendship. Ronan's cell phone was constantly dinging with calls and texts. If you were Ronan's friend and had a birthday, anniversary or other celebration, he would contact you. Ronan's family and friends will greatly miss his communications. Ronan would routinely close out his calls with the familiar phrase "Keep Your Nose Clean and God Bless."

In addition to spending time with his family and friends, Ronan's favorite past-times were his 3-mile daily walk and golfing. Ronan quietly accumulated 8 holes-in-ones, including his 8th hole-in-one at 88 years old on his home course, Eagle Crest.

Arrangements are with the Le Center Funeral Home in Le Center. 507-357-6116. www.lecenterfuneralhome.
