Rosemary Margaret Vonbank

Rosemary Margaret VonBank, age 84 of New Prague, died Friday, January 22, 2016 at Mala Strana Health Care in New Prague. Visitation will be from 8-11 a.m. on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. also on Saturday. Fr. Victor Valencia will officiate. Burial will be at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Cemetery in New Prague.

Rosemary Margaret (Geiger) VonBank was the first-born child of Elmer and Alvina (Peters) Geiger. She was born at home on October 17, 1931 on a farm that her parents rented just east of New Prague during the Great Depression. They along with her siblings grew up on 4 other farms near the Jordan, St. Joe and Webster Minnesota area.

Rosemary was united in marriage to James VonBank on October 25, 1949. While raising 11 children, and gardening, she worked at various places including Anthony's Department store and in the late 1990's she opened her own health food store Rosemary's Garden, in Montgomery, MN. She later moved her store location to Main Street New Prague near the bakery. She truly enjoyed baking for family, friends and her regular customers of her kolackys and fruit pies at local farmers markets including the location in New Prague.

Rosemary is survived by her children, Linda (Ron) Deutsch of Hampshire IL, Greg (Connie) Montgomery, Terry of New Prague, Sandy (Mark) Scheffler of New Prague, Tom (Jana) of Savage, Diane Schmitt of Buffalo, MN, Jeff (special friend Camille) of Northfield, Kevin (Carol) of New Prague, and Bill of Prior Lake; daughter-in-law, Karen VonBank of New Prague; 34 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; siblings, Donald (Dorothy) Geiger of New Prague, LeRoy (Jean) Geiger of New Prague, Carol Ann Turner of Bokeelia FL, and Jim (Sharon) Geiger of New Prague.

Rosemary was preceded in death by parents; son, Steve VonBank in January 2014, daughter, Nancy Simon in May 1996; granddaughter, Candace Simon in June 1993, and infant grandsons, Michael, and Joseph VonBank; great-grandchild, Jase Simon.
