Roy L. "Butch" Sladek, 70, of Le Center, passed away Friday, October 25, 2013 at the VA Medical Center in Minneapolis. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 29, 2013 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Le Center. Funeral Services will also be on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Le Center. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Le Center.
Roy was born on July 11, 1943 to Robert and Marcella (Krocak) Sladek. He was raised on a farm located on the north shore of Green Leaf Lake in Montgomery. He attended Montgomery High School was in the U.S. Army during the Berlin Conflict and was employed with Le Sueur Foundry Inc. for 41 years. After retirement he became the bus driver of Bus #4 for the Montgomery School system.
He was a member of the VFW and was post commander for 2 years, Lexington Sportsman Club and was a usher at St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Roy is survived by wife Elizabeth (Liz) Sladek of Le Center, Children; Tim (Marie) Sladek of Elk River, Bill (Michelle) Sladek of Chandler, AZ, and David (Rachelle) Sladek of Chatfield, 6 grandchildren; Thomas, Nathan, Zackary, Joshua, Sarah, Arianna and Amelia and brother Harold (Terry) Sladek of Le Center.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Military Honors will be provided by the Le Center area Honor Guard.
