Ruth Marie Nimerfroh

Ruth Marie Nimerfroh, age 84 of Montgomery, died Saturday, June 24, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family. Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. also at the funeral home with Pastor Jason Pollington officiating. Burial will be at a later date.

Ruth was born on September 25, 1932 to Charles and Lena (Goerndt) Schmidtke in Fairmont. She attended Ceylon Public School. Ruth was united in marriage with Martin Petersen on December 19, 1948. Martin died suddenly in 1969. Ruth then married Edwin Nimerfroh. Ed died in 2008.

Ruth lived in the Ceylon area her entire life until six years ago when she moved to Montgomery to be closer to her family. She was a member of the Montgomery VFW Auxiliary. She loved playing Bunco, on Friday mornings with her friends, playing cards and putting puzzles together.

Left to cherish her memory are daughters, Marsha (Dallas) Horejsi, Sharon (Darrell) Horejsi, and son, Mark Petersen; five grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren; brother, John (Charlotte) Schmidtke; brothers-in-law, Ken Petersen, and Walter (Karon) Petersen; sisters-in-law, Myra Schmidtke, Jolene Schmidtke, Alice Petersen, Mary Ann Hansel, Bonnie Nimerfroh, and Berniece Petersen.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; infant son, Steven; brothers, Fred, Ervin, Floyd, Charles, Herbert, and Elmer; sister, Leona Rosenberg; brothers-in-law, Roland, Floyd, LeRoy, Marlin, Eugene, Gordon Goerndt, Kenny Nimerfroh, August Rosenberg, Howard Hansel, and Henry; sisters-in-law, Helen Goerndt, Geneva Schmidtke, Helen Schmidtke, Ione Petersen, Sue Schmidtke, Audrey Petersen, Leona Schmidtke, and Helen Schmidtke.
