Shawn Jeffrey Reak

Shawn Jeffrey Reak, age 58, of Albert Lea, died on Monday, January 27, 2020 at the Mayo Health Systems in Austin. Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 2 from 1-2:30pm with memorial service at 2:30pm all at the Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery. Interment will be at Bohemian National in Montgomery in Spring.

Shawn was born to Leo T. and Delores Reak on September 30, 1961 in New Prague. Shawn had mental disabilities and at around the age of 9 he moved to a group home in Austin before transferring to Woodvale in Albert Lea and for the last 30 years lived at REM in Albert Lea where he would live the rest of his life.

Shawn worked at Cedar Valley Services- shredding paper and other little tasks. Shawn enjoyed the little things in life. Listening to music and singing, watching TV and mostly lounging in his chair.

Shawn had a place in everyones heart at REM and he will be sadly missed by all of his caregivers. Especially his #1 caregiver Brianna. We will miss him blowing us kisses and yelling “Ma”.

Shawn is survived by his mother, Delores Reak of Montgomery; sisters, Robin (Lloyd) Tribbitt, Kim Reak, Lisa (Lloyd) Wiechmann; brother, Todd (Chris) Reak; nieces and nephews, Brittni (Andrew) Cossette, Brooke Wiechmann, Brandilyn and Brianna Reak, and Bradley Reak; and great-nephews, Wyatt and Weston Cossette.

Shawn is preceded in death by his dad, Leo T. Reak.
