Shirley Ann Hohbach, age 83 of Prior Lake, formerly of Le Center, passed away on Friday, November 1, 2013 at St. Francis Hospital in Shakopee. Visitation will be Friday, November 8, 2013 from 9am to 11am at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Le Center. Funeral services will be at St. Paul Lutheran Church on Friday at 11 am. Burial will be at a later date.

Shirley was born on January 6, 1930 in Aurora Center, SD to John and Malinda (Faber) Hengen. She graduated from White Lake High School and Springfield Teacher's College. She taught country school in Aurora County, SD until a car accident nearly took her life. After a three month recovery, she began working at W. H. Barber Oil Company. She married Lawrence Hohbach, whom she met at a White Lake dance, on April 5, 1953 in Plankington, SD. They moved to Le Center in 1957 where Shirley then worked at Spors Company and Central Health Care Center, where she later became assistant administrator. She also helped her husband with his career in any way she could. They moved to a retirement village in Mesa, AZ in 2000.

Shirley was active with St. Paul Lutheran Church, singing in the choir and serving with the women's group. She loved to entertain, cook, take care of her home, and spend time with friends. She was a loyal companion and supporter for her husband.

She is survived by her husband, Larry Hohbach of Prior Lake; son, Jeffrey (Roberta) Hohbach of Shakopee; son-in-law, Lonnie Larson of Rogers, AK; brothers, Orville (Lucille) Hengen and Ray Hengen both of Rapid City, SD; sister, Donna Bannick of Wheaton, IL; five grandchildren, Gretchen (Jeff) Heinen of Hickory Creek, TX, Kent Hohbach of Prior Lake, Nick (Lindsey) Larson of Phoenix, AZ, Trent Larson of Rogers, AZ, and Stephanie Larson of Las Vegas, NV; and three great grandchildren, Sadie Richardson, Hayden Larson, and Sydney Susan Heinen.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Harold and Elmer Hengen; and her daughter, Susan who died from ALS in 2007.

Shirley's family requests that memorials be made to ALS/Susie's Angels and St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
