Thomas J. Matejcek

Thomas J. Matejcek, age 90, of Le Center, passed away Monday, September 22, 2014 at Central Health Care in Le Center. Visitation will be on Friday, September 26, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Le Center Funeral Home in Le Center with services by the KC's at 6:30 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church with visitation one hour prior at the church. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
Thomas was born to Charles and Antoinette (Traxler) Matejcek on March 29, 1924 in Le Center. He graduated from High School in Le Center, attended St. John's College, served in the U.S. Army during WWII and upon returning home graduated from the U of M with a Civil Engineer Degree. He was the Waseca City Engineer prior to being one of the developing engineers of Wells Concrete Products. Thomas was united in marriage to Mary (Byrne) Matejcek in St. Thomas on June 12, 1948.
He enjoyed gardening, singing in the St. Mary's Choir, spending time with family and St. Mary's Church activities.
Thomas is survived by wife, Mary Matejcek of Le Center; children, Anne M. (Rick) Becker of Le Center, Nancy J. (Jack) Sousa of Minneapolis, Mary L Dymond (Carl Ahlberg) of Minneapolis, Tom L. Matejcek of Minneapolis, Michael G. Matejcek (Lisa Ray) of Minneapolis, Catherine A. Matejcek (Al Werner) of Shutesbury, Massachusetts, and Jon P. Matejcek of Minneapolis; 12 grandchildren, Amber, April, Bridget, Bethel, Mark, Stephen, Frances, Catherine, Ian, Charlie, Margaret and Susan; 3 great-grandchildren, Nolan, Reagan and Emma; and sister Donna M. (Murphy) Stauff of Faribault.
He is preceded in death by parents.
