Viola Marjorie Cooney

Viola Marjorie Cooney, 92, of Le Center, passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2019 at Central Health Care in Le Center. Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 9 from 4-7pm with rosary at 3:45pm at the Le Center Funeral Home in Le Center. Mass of Christian burial will be on Wednesday, April 10 at 10:00 am with visitation one hour prior at St. Marys Catholic Church in Le Center. Interment will be held in Calvary Cemetery in Le Center.

Viola was born on February 13, 1927 in Le Center to Gilbert and Blanche (Romine) Miller. She was a graduate of McKinley High School. Viola was united in marriage to Patrick J. Cooney on September 23, 1947 at St. Marys Catholic Church in Le Center. Viola worked at Spors Company in Le Center, as a Dental Assistant for Dr. Gish, a bookkeeper for Farm Service Coop for 30 years and Park Avenue Jewelry Store until age 88. Viola was a life member of St. Marys CCW, VFW Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, Forest G. James Marine Corps League Auxiliary, ARC officer (Association for Retarded Children), and was one of the original Bon Bon Clown Club members.
Viola is survived by her children, Sharleen (Richard) Clymer of River Falls, WI, Patrick J (Terri) Cooney Jr. of St. Peter, Karen (Greg) Gotto of Globe, AZ, James Cooney of Le Center, Kathryn (Mike) Siebsen of Le Center, David (Noreen) Cooney of Northfield, and Mary Lynn Cooney of Le Center; 18 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren, and sister, Jacqueline Simonette of Le Center.

Viola is preceded in death by her husband, Patrick J. Cooney; son, Patrick Gerard (in infancy); her parents, Gilbert and Blanche Miller; brother, Walter Miller; sister, Virgie (Adam) Smisek.
