Yvonne "Vonnie" Ann Brahs, 93, of Le Center, died Sunday, November 27, 2016 at Marie Steiner Kelting Hospice House in Chaska. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 5, 2016 from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Le Center. Funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Robert Rendahl officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Le Center.
Yvonne was born on July 16, 1923 in Cleveland Township to Willard and Esther (Gesch) Smith. Vonnie graduated from Cleveland High School and she then attended Mankato Commercial College for secretarial training. Vonnie was united in marriage to Willard Brahs on June 16, 1948 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Le Center. Vonnie's first job was with the ASCS office at the Le Sueur County Court House in Le Center and later a long-time employee at Bowler Insurance as a licensed insurance agent and secretary. Vonnie enjoyed playing cards, hardanger needlework, gardening, and canning.
Vonnie was a member of the Le Sueur County Extension Group, American Legion Auxiliary and VFW Auxiliary and volunteered for Meals on Wheels for several years. She was very active at St. Paul's Lutheran Church as a member of the sympathy Committee, Altar Guild, and as a treasurer of the ELCW Women's Organization.
Vonnie is survived by her children, Dr. Mark (Mary) Brahs of Montgomery, and John (Becky) Brahs of Wayzata; grandchildren, Dr. Matthew (Karen) Braasch of Minnetonka, Molly (Dave) Coen, of South St. Paul, and Nick Brahs, of Minneapolis; great-grandchildren, Isabelle and Ivy Coen, and Austin Braasch; brother, Robert L. (Marlys) Smith of Shoreview.
Vonnie is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Willard in 1999; and brother, Wallace Smith.
