Obituary for Lanny Tyrone Flowers, Jr.

Lanny Tyrone Flowers, Jr.

Lanny Tyrone Flowers, Jr. (54), of LeCenter, Minnesota (formerly long time resident of Oklahoma) passed away peacefully on April 30, 2023.

Lanny, lovingly known as Tony to those that know and love him, was first and foremost a dad, where his favorite thing to do was to spend time with his three children. He also was an inspirational educator that positively influenced thousands of teachers and students. He was a gifted teacher and administrator who loved history, enjoyed the outdoors, motorcycles, race cars, tattoos, music, and spending time with his three children. Despite having to navigate doctors, hospitals, and medications, he never lost his sense of humor and any times to offer wise advice.

Tony is survived by his three children, Sam, Lucas and Emma. He is also survived by his mother, Beverly Trarbuagh, sister Becky Flowers and his brother, Robert Trarbaugh, along with his nephew, Jake Flowers and niece, Josie,.

While Tony left us far too soon, the impact he had on the students and educators he encountered will be felt and acknowledged for years to come. Tony and his children were looking forward to the warmer months in Minnesota, county fairs, swimming pools, and drumstick ice cream cones. He will be missed and remembered for his joy for the little things in life like, Dr. Pepper and Coconut cream pie.

Tony’s last words were, “Sure, I want breakfast.”Yet, if he would only have known his last parting words, he would have said, “Be still and know that I am with you.” (Song, “Be Still” by The Fray). Sam. Lucas and Emma plan to continue his legacy in his name.

The family will be having a private service in Minnesota and Oklahoma at a later date.
